Success Plan

Here is what needs to be done & how to be successful in my class!

GET AN 80 OR BETTER!!

SUCCESS PLAN

FOR ALL STUDENTS!

EVERYONE can and should make at least an 80 in my class!

I give a Vocabulary Quiz often (25%) - if you make less than an 80, you can hand write the correct words with the proper definitions for ALL the ones that you missed, 3 times each, on a piece of paper and turn it in to get an 80.

Class/Group Work (15%) – Note taking is an essential skill needed to do well in any class, since they can use the notes on most of their tests. Therefore, I grade the notes taken in their composition book from time to time (composition books necessary) and it should be an easy 100. Notes and work done in class that receive less than a 80, you can be corrected or redone it and turned back in to get a 80. If it is turned in late, the best grade given can be a 64

Khan Academy Assignments &/or Homework (20%) – Usually assigned at the beginning of the week and due on Friday or Saturday. Khan Academy can be done as many times as needed to get a 100. If it is turned in late, complete and correct, it will receive a 64.

ALL OF THE PREVIOUS WORK IS INTENDED TO HELP YOU TO BE ABLE TO DO A GOOD JOB ON THE TESTS!

Tests & Projects (40%) - If you fail a test (less than 70) you can come to a tutorial time to make corrections and then retake it to get up to an 80. If you passed the test but want a better grade, you can come to tutorials & correct ALL the problems you missed to get ½ of the missed points back (i.e., a test that receives a 70 that is completely corrected can get an 85).

LATE WORK (work not turned in on time) – late work will receive a ZERO until it is turned in (up to 7 days), and then it will only receive up to a 65 if done completely and correctly.  TURN EVERYTHING IN ON TIME (see above)!

GRADE REPORTS  (basically a progress report for this math class only) are provided from time to time (about every 2 or 3 weeks to all students in my classes & their parents so they will know your grade and what you are missing &/or need to do or redo to get a better grade, but students can check their grades and work in focus any time to see their grades and what they are missing. I usually update grades every weekend.

REMINDers – daily texts to remind students of important things or to give needed information.

PowerPoints from each class are put on Canvas every day so students can keep up when absent, catch up when behind or review as needed.

I WILL ONLY ACCEPT MAKE UP OR REDO WORK FOR 5 SCHOOL DAYS (1 week) AFTER THE DUE DATE OR WHEN I RETURN IT TO YOU.

THERE ARE 3 PARTS OF YOUR GRADE IN THIS CLASS:

Tests & Projects, count the most,  40%

Quizzes 25%

KhanWork & HomeWork     20%

Class/Group Work 15%
