About our school
At McLean Sixth Grade Center, we are committed to providing a smooth transition between elementary and secondary education. We strive to enrich the academic, social, and emotional capabilities of our students in order to develop a strong sense of community.
In 1946, noted Fort Worth architect Wyatt C. Hedrick was selected to design our one-story school building of yellow brick and limestone. Bluebonnet Elementary School opened its doors in the fall of 1950. In 1952, Fort Worth ISD added six classrooms to Bluebonnet, bringing the total to 17. The school later became known as the Applied Learning Academy, serving students in grades 6-8. In the fall of 2000, it became Mclean 6th Grade Center. Due to its status as a historically designated building, the name Bluebonnet School remains on the front. However, our McLean 6th Grade marquee denotes the school's current middle school status.
McLean 6th Grade Center serves approximately 350 students. Our elementary feeder schools include Westcliff, Alice Contreras, George C. Clarke, Lily B. Clayton, Overton Park, and Tanglewood. Our students move on to attend McLean Middle School and Paschal High School.
