Mrs. Arcos Philosophy

In order to have a great education, one must have a great teacher. A teacher can motivate a student and guide them in the right direction and provide them with the best education possible by making well use of the technology provided. Our job as teachers is to be there for our students, someone they can look up to. We must impact their lives and work ethics to be a positive impact in their lives. Every child deserves the right to get an education and make good use of the knowledge gained. I would like to be that teacher who my students will always remember as “the one who impacted their life in a positive way”. I want to always be remembered as the teacher who was always there for her students, from the beginning to the end, good times and bad times. William B. once said, “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lightning of a fire”. I want to be able to light that fire.

Every student must be considered. They are all different. Therefore, they all learn differently. Teachers cannot expect to have great results just by lecturing all day. Students all have different learning styles. Some students are visual, auditory or kinesthetic learners. Usually all three different ways of learning must be met and technology can help achieve those goals. Every student must participate. When teaching a class, we must always remember that not only is a subject being taught but we as teachers must also prepare them for life itself, for the "real world". Working in groups is great because once they are on their own into the real world; they must know that they need to learn how to work with others. They must learn how to communicate with each other.

As a teacher you must always be in control. Expectations should always be known. Good classroom management is the key to positive results. A teacher must be able to manage his/her classroom and know every child’s daily behavior and how to keep their students engaged, motivated in their education. Expectations must be set and followed throughout the year. Respect is a key factor to a proper education and classroom management. High expectations should always be there for the students. Every child is capable of learning but they might all learn at a different pace. Never have favorites. They should all be treated the same.

My goal is to make education be seen as a privilege and an opportunity not as an option. I will always expect the highest. As the great writer, Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “A Man’s reach should exceed his grasp”. No child will be left behind. I will give respect to get respect. I will not accept “no”, or “I cannot do it” as an answer. I will try my best to be able to meet all three different styles of learning, I will love to work in groups and have plenty of visuals and hands on activities once we go back to face-to-face learning. Most importantly, I will always try my best to provide my students with the best learning experience ever.

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world
