Teacher Bio

Howdy!! First off, my name is Mark Mahan. I was born and raised here in Fort Worth, Texas. I graduated from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, with a Bachelor Degree in Emergency Administration and Disaster Planning and a Minor in Geography. In 2004, I began an exciting career in disaster management. I have responded to some of the largest natural disasters in the last 20 years including Katrina and Ebola. I have been married to my best friend, Charlene, for 13 years come this October. We have a daughter, Victoria, and a son, Dylan. My daughter is a 2nd grader at Nance Elementary. My son is starting Pre-K this year. The 2020-2021 will be my first year as a teacher, and I am so excited to begin this new chapter of my life. I am asked all the time why have I chosen to become an educator. To me the answer is very simple. I have a strong desire to help people and to make this country a little bit better. I want to instill my love for knowledge and science into the future generation. I long to be the teacher that your child will remember in 25 years. I am looking forward to getting to know each of you this upcoming year.
