Class Policies

Students will have a minimum of two graded assignments a week. Some will be done during class and some will be expected to be done on your own and turned in.

All assignments will be turned in via Canvas. I will then transfer grades from Canvas to Focus. The grade book in Focus is considered the official grade book.

Assignments have different values according to their difficultly.

• 60% of total grade - Formative – daily assignments, homework, and quizzes

• 40% of total grade - Summative – Tests, Projects, Labs

A student who receives a failing grade on a test or assignment has the opportunity to redo the assignment or retake the test. The request to retake should happen within 3 class meetings of the grade being received.

My tutoring will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 to 5:00 pm.

If these tutoring hours do not work for you please arrange a time with me personally.

● Dress appropriately

● Have your class materials ready

● Pay attention and ask for help

● Participate in-class discussion

● Work with your assigned table group

● Keep up with all videos, readings, and assignments in Canvas

● Find a quiet independent learning place at home to do homework

Students are responsible for all assignments if they attend class or not.

Presentations, instructions, and videos from the lessons will be posted to Canvas and students are responsible for reviewing these on their own time to catch up.

If circumstances of the absence cause the student not to be able to make a deadline please contact me as soon as possible.

An “M” equaling a zero will be entered into the grade book if the assignment is not received by the due date.

The student will then be given a zero if the assignment is not received after three class days following the due date.

I reserve 10:18 - 11:09 am to meet with parents. Please know I take all communication from you seriously. With that said, I am very busy during the school day and will not be able to frequently answer phone calls because I am either teaching class or working with students. Feel free to leave me a voice message but, if your question can be answered via email that would be preferred. I will do my best to get back to you within a few hours but, sometimes it may take as long as 24 hours to respond. I am a parent as well, please understand that questions asked after school, on the weekend, or over holidays may not be responded to until the next school day.
