Syllabus

For the first unit in Reading we will be focused on the reasons why authors write. By the end of the unit we will identify the Author's Purpose and Main Idea & Details for various nonfiction texts. We will also be working to make connections and ask questions as we read.

Our first unit of Writing will focus on the writing process by planning and producing a written personal narrative. Our convention study will cover complete, simple, and compound sentences with subject-verb agreement and the avoidance of run-ons, and fragments.

In Fourth Grade Social Studies we will be learning the history of Texas. The first unit covers geography, specifically as it pertains to our state. We identify where Texas is located on a map and then look closer at the resources, climate, and plants and animals of Texas.
