ELA Course Overview

In this class we will practice expressing our ideas and emotions both orally and in writing, and by doing so improve our critical thinking skills. Do we need a larger vocabulary? Yes. Do we need to know correct grammar? Yes, again. What we need even more is to know what we want to say, how we want to say it, and why we need to say it. This class deals with those issues.

About Me

I have been teaching in secondary schools for over twenty years and have been a certified teacher of ELA in Texas 15 years. My experience conducting writers' workshops, in editing and publishing, and as a creative writing teacher at the Federal Medical Center have informed my teaching and desire to help high school students become thoughtful writers. I was Metro Opportunity HS campus Teacher of the year in 2012.
