FWISD's Battle of the Books began in the 2015-2016 school year. The original committee researched how other districts do these types of competitions and put together a program that would work well for FWISD. The first year was only elementary and middle school with just a few participating schools, and it has grown to encompass 3rd-12th grades with almost every campus in the district competing in at least one event. A few changes like the number of books and how things go on competition day have changed over the years, but goal of the program remains the same: GET KIDS READING!!!
Note: The competition was canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19, and the 2021 and 2022 competitions were held virtually. 2021 was Battle of the Books Classic where old titles and questions were reused in order to have a competition during the hybrid learning year.
