Are you interested in attending Dunbar for the Automotive Program?
How to apply:
1) Visit the FWISD Program of Choice website and fill out a Program of Choice Application. --> HERE
2) Space in the program is limited! If you apply and get into an open spot, you will receive a welcome email from the Dunbar Program of Choice coordinator asking you to complete an acceptance form.
3) After the acceptance form is complete, you will be able to transfer through the Dunbar registrar or complete a regular FWISD registration.
4) Once you register at Dunbar through accepted transfer or through regular registration, you will be able to attend Dunbar and start taking classes!
The AUTOMOTIVE program at Dunbar prepares students to become certified Automotive Service Technicians!
At Dunbar High School, the Automotive Program equips students with the knowledge and hands-on experience to step confidently into the workforce as certified Automotive Service Technicians
Average Wage of Automotive Service Technicians in the Fort Worth Area:
Fort Worth Area Pay Range: $20,000 – $60,000 annually

Core Tasks
Get a description of the problem from the vehicle’s owner
Use tools and computerized diagnostic equipment to locate the cause of the problem
Make adjustments or repairs, and replace old parts
Perform routine maintenance, such as oil changes and tune‑up

Workplace
Work for dealerships and repair shops, the service departments of government agencies, utility companies, and car rental firms
Most work 8 to 10 hours a day, 40 to 50 hours a week, and many work weekend and evening shifts
Shops are noisy and dirty places to work
Potential hazards include injuries from burns and cuts
The work can be physically demanding
