In this class we will practice expressing our ideas and emotions both orally and in writing, and by doing so improve our critical thinking skills. Do we need a larger vocabulary? Yes. Do we need to know correct grammar? Yes, again. What we need even more is to know what we want to say, how we want to say it, and why we need to say it. This class deals with those issues.

Welcome! My name is Chiquita Collins-Haynes, but you can call me Mrs. Collins or Mrs. (C). This is my 8th year at South Hills. The current roles I serve includes being an Inclusion Teacher (Special Education) and assistant Cheer Coach. I graduated from the University of Mississippi with my B.S. in Criminal Justice and African American Studies. I also received my M.S. in Organizational Leadership from Belhaven University. I have 2 children (Grace and J) my husband of 10 years, and my malti-poo, Pippa. I co-teach with Ms. Phillips and Ms. Burks in English 3 and 4 . I also co-teach with Mr. Leach in IPC Science. I really enjoy teaching and I am excited about being apart of your educational journey.
