Mrs O is our fantastic visual arts teacher here at Woburn. 

She grew up in Scarborough and earned her degrees from Queen's University and has taught for over 25 years!!! WOW! 



ART OUTSIDE OF CLASS

Art happens outside class too!

-There are OPEN STUDIO hours where students can refine their skills and work on projects

-There is an ART CLUB open to ANYONE. We do student led activities such as:

-Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking


SCHOOL WIDE ART INITIATIVES & CLUBS

-Art Wellness Crafting, Origami Club, Door Decorating Club

-Art Activities and Competitions from in and out of school organizations

GRADE 9 - NAC1O ART

The Gr. 9 course focuses on:

Building the relationship between us and Canada’s indigenous peoples through:

-Learning about worldview, art/ traditions and issues

-Having visiting Indigenous artists work with students

-Going on excursions that develop and establish the above

Building on foundational art skills and techniques such as composition in design, painting, drawing, sculpture and printmaking

GRADE 10 - AVI2O ART

The Gr. 10 course focuses on:

Building on foundational art skills and techniques such as composition in design, painting, drawing, sculpture and printmaking

Introducing students to various ART CAREERS such as:

-Graphic Design - Logo

-Architectural Design - Perspective Drawing and Design

-Going on excursions that develop and establish the above

GRADE 11 - AV3M ART

The Gr. 11 course focuses on:

Developing Communication skills through art

-Quote Painting- Illustrating the meaning of a quote

-Portraiture: Portraying a familiar person using composition

Introducing students to ways of communicating ideas and concepts such as:

-Graphic Design - Poster Design -Portraiture 

-Tile/Plate Design- Sharing elements of student’s heritage using composition

-Going on excursions that develop and establish the above



GRADE 12 - AV4M ART

The Gr. 12 course focuses on:

-Developing Expressive skills through art

-Introducing students to ways of expressing ideas and concepts through new ways of inspiration through:

-Graphic & Product Design - Phone/App Design

-Groupwork 

-Autobiographical work- building a sense of identity through art

-Collaborative Painting- Creating a painting through collaborative brainstorming and sketching

-Sculpture - Building a structure that shares Function and Form

-Going on excursions that develop and establish the above
