The treaty that was signed for the land that is now known as Toronto and York Region is collectively referred to as the Toronto Purchase or Treaty . It applies to lands east of Brown’s Line to Woodbine Avenue and north towards Newmarket.

Treaties Recognition Week takes place every year in the first week of November. Treaties Recognition Week was introduced in 2016 to honour the importance of treaties and to help Ontarians learn more about treaty rights and treaty relationships.
