· A SHSM allows students to experience a range of customized learning opportunities in an area that interest them, and brings relevance to learning.
· A SHSM program gives students the opportunity to explore, identify and refine career goals, make informed decisions related to postsecondary education or training, and focus on ‘next steps’ towards a career.
· Through a SHSM, students begin to establish relationships and networks in their chosen fields and gain confidence in their ability to succeed.
· Students who have earned a SHSM can provide evidence in their achievement (e.g., sector-recognized certifications and training programs) to prospective employers and postsecondary education or training instructions.
· Students gain valuable industry recognized skills and certifications that will provide them with an “Advantage” when applying for “jobs” or “Colleges” and/or “Universities” .
· The cost of the program, materials, and certifications are covered by the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) and the Ministry of Education.
· Students who have earned a SHSM can earn $50,000-$80,000+ depending on the pathway they choose.
