TD Snap (formerly Snap Core First) is an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tool that includes picture communication symbols (PCS). TD Snap turns an iPad into a ‘speech generating device’ for students who are non-verbal or have difficulty producing clear speech. It primarily uses vocabulary buttons that speak when touched, which are arranged in grids of various sizes, such as 7x7 or 8x10. High-frequency ‘core’ vocabulary are typically on the ‘main’ page while less frequently used ‘fringe’ vocabulary is categorized into folders. TD Snap can also act as a powerful comprehension tool when school staff pair their spoken language with the visual language of the vocabulary buttons.
