OUR PURPOSE
STEM+ Council at Georges Vanier aims to support STEM+ students by organizing events and activities for students in the program. In this unique leadership opportunity, our club is determined to host team-bonding events, fundraisers, workshops, and other STEM+ initiatives to promote creativity, collaboration, problem-solving, and memorable experiences that set STEM+ students up for success.
Taking place on December 4th, 2025, the STEM+ Council x Robotics Grade 10 Building Challenge was a very exciting, hands-on competition! Students worked in teams to design machines that transported foam balls from one cup to the other without using their hands. Trophies and certificates were awarded to the competition winners, as well as to students who demonstrated creativity, collaboration, and engineering skills!
1ST PLACE: Team 5 and was able to score 10 balls in 5 seconds!
2ND PLACE: Team 1 and was able to score 9 balls in 3 seconds!
3RD PLACE: Team 12 and was able to score 7 balls in 3.6 seconds!
Take a look at our official GVSS STEM+ Merch design for the 2025-2026 school year, "The Coat of Arms"! The talented designer behind "The Coat of Arms" is Abid Mohamed Riaz, a Grade 10 Vanier STEM+ student. The hoodie design was selected through a STEM+ wide student vote in our STEM+ Merch Design competition which took place this October 2025.
On School Cash Online, all students in the STEM+ program had the opportunity to purchase our STEM+ Hoodie for the '25-'26 school year.

On September 23rd, The STEM+ Council 2025-2026 hosted a bonding event in Vanier's learning hub for the freshmen students. Here, they had a chance to explore the different fields of STEM+ through student-led activity stations from the sciences to engineering!
