Introduction to Healthcare

Pre -  PA, PSW, CCA 

This course enables students to develop their understanding of basic Healthcare theory and includes a practical application in hand hygiene. Students will focus on Healthcare fundamentals, including medical terminology and the functions of the human body system and explore the relationships between pathology and disease prevention and treatment. Students will develop an awareness of health and safety issues in the health care field, environmental and societal issues related to health care, professional ethical practice standards, and career opportunities in the field.

Yorkdale’s Introduction to Healthcare Program is a 2 credit (full-time) package aimed at any individual who is interested in a career in any area of the healthcare field in Ontario. It will enable students to make informed decisions about their future and providing the foundation knowledge for any career the student chooses to pursue.

This Program  can also prepare students for other Yorkdale Programs such as PSW, CCA, PAAchieving a 75% or higher in the program allows you to bypass the competitive admissions process for these programs.

Please note hours are non-negotiable and that classes are not held  over the summer (July and August) 

In–person (9 weeks) every other day in class. 


You can choose to take one other class in period 3 if desired.  English is highly recommended.
