Ms Thomson's GRade 1 AND 2 Music classroom

HELLO Grade 1 and 2 students!

This week grades one and two will be doing the same activity, because we are dancing and listening to music!

SUMMER MUSIC!

IT'S ALMOST SUMMER! THIS COMING WEEKEND IS THE SUMMER SOLSTICE.

At the summer solstice, the Sun travels the longest path through the sky, and that day therefore has the most daylight. When the summer solstice happens in the Northern Hemisphere, the North Pole is tilted toward the Sun. That means that that the days are as long as they can be in Canada!

Music sounds extra magical to me in the summer. Especially when we can enjoy it outside. Wipe Out is a song that I like that reminds me of summer, maybe because it is about spending time in the water. Wiping out in this song means that if you are in the water, balancing on a floating toy or board and you fall off, you "Wipe out!"

And here is a dance you can learn to go with the music!
