This isn't your typical STEM program.

The TDSB is reimagining Math, Science and Technology programs. All students with a keen interest and passion for the worlds of Math, Science and Technology are welcome and invited to participate in one of the 20 unique programs- One of which is right here at Runnymede CI

What is the STEM @RUNN Program?

Runnymede’s STEM program provides students who are passionate about Mathematics, Science and Computer Studies with opportunities for enrichments. Students within the program experience enriched learning opportunities in each of the three major disciplines, while also having the opportunity to apply their learning to tasks that integrate the three subjects to real world problems. The program's growth mindset approach creates a love of learning and resilience that helps foster students’ intellectual growth and social development. Involvement in a variety of learning opportunities, prepares students for excellence in their high school, and post-secondary areas of interests. In addition to this, the STEM @ RUNN program provides students with experiential learning opportunities.

Students within the program cover ministry curriculum while simultaneously working on enrichment and integration opportunities within their program areas.  Students work on passion projects, looking for solutions to issues that the world is currently facing.  This helps them develop foundational mindsets aiding in optimizing their strengths, so they can make a significant impact on the world.  Students will leave the program knowing that they are part of a  community of like-minded people who care about making an impact on the world, and solving problems.

One of the goals of the STEM @ RUNN  program is to prepare students for all post-secondary pathways. Since the creation of the program in 2003, 100 percent of STEM @ RUNN graduates have been accepted to the post secondary pathway of their choice, with 75% of those students earning post-secondary scholarships.

Students work on STEM based problems that are relevant to them and the world.

Students have access to  interesting opportunities including university contests, UofT partnerships programs. and lectures.

Students in Grade 9 are paired with Grade 11 mentors to help them ease into high school. The community mindset of the program allows the students to give back by becoming mentors when they are in Grade 11.

Students will learn about, and work with emerging technologies across their STEM courses.
