Here is a wonderful performance from the Rose Avenue #JMX performing a mashup of Obwisana and Fangwa Alafia.

The performance took place in March of 2018 at a TDSB Trustee Meeting

Still Not Free

Here is a wonderful performance from the Rose Avenue #JMX performing an original piece of music Still Not Free based on a poem with the same name by Arnold Adoff.

This piece and the associted lessons and activities explore the Blue Note and The Blues as symbols of protest and self expression through a framework of Anti-Black Racism and Oppression.

Closer / Hot Cros Buns

Here is a mash-up of Closer by The Chainsmokers and Hot Cross Buns.

This piece of music explores the pitches 'B', 'A', and 'G' played on the Soprano Recorder.  

Through a series of lessons, students learn to improvise and compose using these three pitches.

Prelude in B Minor, Chopin

Here is a video of the #JMX rehearsing our arrangement of Prelude in B Minor by Federic Chopin.

This piece was prepared for Remembrance Day.  A final performance video was not taken.

Through a series of lessons and activities, students explored, imitated, and composed using "tim-ka".

As well, through movement, students explored, form, pathways, mirroring, and narrative, as a story was told about two opposing sides (shown with coloured scarves) in conflict with one and other.
