Rosedale Heights School of the Arts
Grade 11 University Biology (SBI3U)
Culminating Evaluation 2024-25
To all Grade 11 University Biology Students and Parents,
The curriculum requires that towards the end of the school year, students be given a culminating evaluation. The evaluation must cover material from the entire year, and it is worth 30% of the final mark.
Attendance and completion are compulsory. It is imperative that all students are present to complete all the necessary review in class in preparation for the exam. Failure to write the exam will result in a grade of zero (0) for the culminating. Extenuating circumstances will be dealt with confidentially with each student and their teacher. Absence due to illness must be supported by a doctor’s certificate and the student must make arrangements immediately with their science teacher.
This year, the culminating evaluation for SBI3U will consist of a final exam in and an exam preparation component.
Exam (18%)
The final exam will consist of material from the following units:
Genetics, Internal Systems, and Taxonomy - Mrs. Michalak's class
Genetics, Internal Systems, and Evolution- Mr. Plaza class
MICHALAK CLASS Date: Friday, June 20th, SBI3U1.4, Room 207, 9:00am-10:30am/10:30am-12:00pm (extra time)
Review classes: (12%)
Review classes will take place during regular classes. This is divided into 2 separate tasks: a review package and showing your teacher your study notes.
Review dates: 6, June 9-13, June 16-17.
Part 1: 6% of final mark
An exam review package will be distributed to students prior to the date of the exam. Students will independently complete and correct their review packages for marks. Exam review package- Plaza Must be done in class to earn marks.
Michalak Review package-Must be done in class to earn marks.
Part 2: 6% of final mark
Student should also ensure they have study notes on the exam topics. These notes should have been made previously during the year and need to be shown to their teacher for part of the preparation mark. Carefully review topics and term list provided by your teacher to make sure you are not missing any information in your notes.
Guideline for Ms. Michalak's Class
**Students are also expected to do their own exam preparation outside of class.**
Note: Any students who do not complete their review on their own, will write an exam of heavier weighting to make up for the missed/ compromised work. Working in the library is not appropriate for review days.
Please make note of the evaluation above and ensure that you will be able to attend class on the review days. This is an extremely significant portion of the final mark in 11 University Biology.
Thank you, JP Plaza, T Michalak
