CAMPBELL Health & Physical Education Course Outlines 25-26
PAF 1OF, 2OF, 2OM - Personal and Fitness Activities
This course focuses on students developing and implementing personal physical fitness plans. Students are introduced to fitness program planning and a variety of training techniques to enhance physical skills and personal performance. Students will examine various health topics (e.g. healthy eating) and determine specific factors that not only can affect their health but may also impact their training. Through daily fitness activities students will develop a basic understanding of human anatomy, proper safety and injury prevention, and a positive self-image by maintaining or improving their levels of fitness.

PAQ 201 (All Gender) - Aquatics
This course emphasizes regular participation in a variety of enjoyable aquatics activities that promote life-long healthy active living. Student learning will include the application of movement principles to refine aquatics skills (e.g. speed swimming, water polo, life saving awards and skills, CPR), participation in a variety of aquatic activities that enhance personal competence, fitness and health and the examination of issues related to healthy living. Students will also explore topics related to the Healthy Living Education Open courses descriptions for Grades 10, 11, and 12 for health areas of study.
Students in the course will work towards earning their Bronze Start Certification through the Life Saving Society

PAQ 301 (All Gender) - Aquatics
This course emphasizes regular participation in a variety of enjoyable aquatics activities that promote life-long healthy active living. Student learning will include the application of movement principles to refine aquatics skills (e.g. speed swimming, water polo, life saving awards and skills, CPR), participation in a variety of aquatic activities that enhance personal competence, fitness and health and the examination of issues related to healthy living. Students will also explore topics related to the Healthy Living Education Open courses descriptions for Grades 10, 11, and 12 for health areas of study.
Students in the course will work towards earning their Bronze Medallion and their Emergency First Aid Certification through the Life Saving Society

PAQ 401 (All Gender) - Aquatics
This course emphasizes regular participation in a variety of enjoyable aquatics activities that promote life-long healthy active living. Student learning will include the application of movement principles to refine aquatics skills (e.g. speed swimming, water polo, life saving awards, CPR), participation in a variety of aquatic activities that enhance personal competence, fitness, and health and the examination of issues related to healthy living.
Students in the course will work towards earning their Bronze Cross Certification and possibly their National Lifeguard Service through the Life Saving Society.
NOTE - Students must have their Emergency First Aid and Bronze Medallion certification as a prerequisite
PLF - Leadership: Recreation and Health Active Living
This course enables students to explore the benefits of lifelong participation in active recreation and healthy leisure and to develop the leadership and coordinating skills needed to plan, organize, and safely implement recreational events and other activities related to healthy active living. Students will engage in team-building and leadership theory activities, as well as mentoring, and special event planning through the Special Olympics Ontario Unified schools program.
This course is appropriate for students in grades 11 or 12 who are interested in university programs in physical education and health and kinesiology and for college and university programs in recreation and leisure management, fitness and health promotion, and fitness leadership.
PPL 1O1, 1OF, 1OM, 2O1, 2OF, 2OM - Healthy Active Living Education
This course emphasizes regular participation in a variety of enjoyable physical activities that promote lifelong Healthy Active Living. Students will learn movement skills and principles, ways to improve personal fitness and physical competence, safety, swimming and lifesaving skills, injury prevention and basic CPR. They will investigate issues related to healthy sexuality, substance use and abuse and will participate in activities to enhance communication, relationships and social skills.

PSK - Introductory Kinesiology
This course focuses on the study of human movement and of systems, factors, and principles involved in human development. Students will learn about the effects of physical activity on health and performance, the evolution of physical activity and sports, and the factors that influence an individual's participation in physical activity. The course prepares students for university programs in physical education, kinesiology, recreation, and sports administration.
