Academic Goals

Language: By the end of the school year, students will:

read and demonstrate an understanding of a variety of texts and organize ideas and information to write for an intended purpose.

Math: By the end of the school year, students will:

demonstrate an understanding of numbers, patterns and the value of Canadian currency. They will learn to collect and arrange data in tally tables and bar graphs and also to describe and represent shapes and the relative locations of objects/people.

Science: By the end of the school year, students will demonstrate an understanding of:

Life Systems: needs and characteristics of living things.

Structures and Mechanisms: materials, objects and everyday structures.

Matter and Energy: energy in our lives.

Earth and Space Systems: daily and seasonal changes

Social Studies: By the end of the school year, students will demonstrate an understanding of:

Heritage and Identity: our changing roles and responsibility.

People and Environments: the local community.

The Arts: By the end of the school year, the students will develop an understanding of the elements of:

Dance - body, space, time

Drama - role/character, relationship, time and place

Music - rhythm/beat, pitch, harmony

Visual Arts - line, shape/form, colour
