Homework and Communication Logs
There are four types of commonly assigned homework; completion, practice, preparation, and extension. The homework in our room often focuses on practice and preparation activities to develop students organizational and time management skills. Students are encouraged to complete their homework log (Book Bag) and read their Borrow-A-Book (BAB) or Library book everyday. If your child does not understand the reading for the day please place a star (*) beside the log and encourage your child to speak with a classmate or Mr. Moore during our morning transition or morning meeting.
As per the TDSB's Homework Policy, homework is reported on only the Learning Skills Section of the Report Card as a part of Independent Work.
Borrow-A-Book (BAB)
Borrow-A-Book (BAB) is an opportunity for students to borrow books from our classroom library on a regular and frequent basis. In addition to borrowing books from our classroom library, students in Grade 5/6 have been learning to choose 'Just Right Books' on computers using Epic!
Library Books
Students also have an opportunity to go to the library for book exchange.
Students are strongly encouraged to read on a daily basis for about 25 minutes.
