What is our Goal?

Our goal is to support the academic success of our students, to promote a life-long enjoyment of reading, and to provide knowledge building experiences with 24/7 access to information in a welcoming environment that is conducive to learning.

We strive to achieve this goal through attention to Equity, Well Being, Achievement, Indigenous Education, Anti-Racism, Anti-Oppression, and Joy.

What do we do? - Supporting Literacy and Learning Together

Teacher-librarians and teachers work collaboratively to ensure that students receive information literacy instruction, independent reading initiatives and support for learning with technologies.

Together we motivate students to read for pleasure and information:

We design learning to engage students in inquiry learning:

What can students do?

LPCI Library has a main teaching space hosting a laptop cart and a wealth of print resources, a Library Lab with a chromebook cart, and a Library Seminar Room. Students are welcome to use the Library on their own before school, after school or during the full lunch period. Teachers book their classes during regular scheduled periods to give students opportunities to find excellent reading materials and to conduct research.  Independently, students can study at tables, browse for books, work on their assignments and conduct research.

When students are at home or in a public library, students can access our LPCI Virtual Library 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to access subscription databases or selected web links including the Toronto Public Library, and TDSB student research guide.

Students are also welcome to join our outstanding team of Student Library Volunteers!  Our volunteers gain valuable experience working in the Library as ambassadors of our rich Library programming, as well as earning time towards their 40 hours of community service.
