Horizon Alternative School is a TDSB Grade 7–8 program built for motivated learners who want more. More depth, more connection, and more of what school can be.
Horizon is an alternative program within the Toronto District School Board, housed at Central Toronto Academy. We serve Grade 7 and 8 students who are ready to take on an academically challenging, experiential program — one where they learn to think critically, collaborate deeply, and show up for their community.
Our school runs differently. We start the day at 9:45 am. We take trips — real ones, to Montreal and beyond. We build skills in time management, communication, and problem-solving not through worksheets but through doing.
If that sounds like your child, we'd love to meet them.
Beyond the textbook. Trips, simulations, and hands-on projects bring curriculum to life across every subject.
A 9:45 am start, small-group classes, and a strong equity lens — because a good school takes care of the whole person.
Clubs, committees, sports teams, a student-run yearbook, and school pets. Horizon is a place you belong.
