Horizon isn't your typical school. It's a program designed from the ground up for students who want to go further — and a community that helps them get there.
Horizon is an academically challenging program that offers extended learning across all subject areas. We use the Grade 7 and 8 Ontario curriculum as a starting point — not a ceiling.
Our focus is on analysis and critical thinking. Students develop time management, organization, problem-solving, and communication skills through hands-on, experiential learning: trips, simulations, and whole-school collaborative events.
The ultimate goal is to graduate students who are independent, self-directed learners — curious about the world, comfortable with complexity, and ready to lead.
Learning happens through doing. Trips, simulations, and project-based work are central to how we teach — and are part of our everyday and ongoing learning.
Equity is embedded throughout our program. Students engage in humanitarian initiatives and student run committees to actively work on tenets of responsible citizenship.
We are a small school with one Grade 7 and one Grade 8 class. We have a 9:45 am start, and dedicated wellness programming to ensure students are supported emotionally, socially, and physically — not just academically.
