Chemistry: The Central Science

Students entering Grade 11 who wish to pursue the sciences at the post-secondary level are encouraged to take Grade 11 University Chemistry. The discipline of Chemistry is regarded as the central science and therefore, Grade 12 University Chemistry is often a prerequisite for Physical and Life Science programs and Engineering programs at the post secondary level. It is strongly recommended that students planning to take SBI 4U and IDC 4U (Biotechnology) complete Grade 11 Chemistry. Large sections of each of these courses expect students to have a background in chemical bonding, polarity and chemical reactions.
