General Science: Mandatory courses for Grades 9 and 10 that cover an introduction to all main science disciplines.
Biology: Focuses on living organisms, including topics like genetics, ecology, and human anatomy.
Chemistry: Explores the properties and reactions of matter, covering areas like chemical reactions, bonding, and organic chemistry.

Students are required to earn grade 9 and 10 science credits for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). A senior science credit can be earned to fulfil the STEM requirement.
Academic Excellence: Harbord Collegiate Institute has a long tradition of academic excellence and provides courses that lead to a wide range of postsecondary destinations.
Social Justice and Environment: The overall school framework emphasizes social justice, equity, and the environment. This focus is also reflected in the science department, which offers an Environmental Science course and aligns with the school's Platinum Certified Eco-School status.
Staff: The Science Department is led by an Assistant Curriculum Leader and includes a team of dedicated teachers.
