Math Contests
We are excited to share that our school offers students the opportunity to participate in a variety of math contests throughout the year. These contests encourage problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity while allowing students to challenge themselves beyond the classroom.
More information about upcoming contests, registration instructions, fees, and how students can get involved can be found here.
This opportunity is optional for students. Please only register your child if they are interested.
The following math contests are hosted at HCI. Please click on each link to learn more.
Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (COMC - grades 11/12)
Pascal/Cayley/Fermat Contests (grades 9 -11)
Students can access problems and upload their solutions in our HCI Math Club Infinity Google Classroom using the code bobi2lh.
Math Problem of the Week
Each week starting in October, HCI’s Math Club Infinity posts a junior and senior “Problem of the Week” in our Google Classroom and outside room 214. These enrichment problems give students a chance to stretch their thinking, practice creative problem-solving, and prepare for upcoming math contests.
For every solution submitted, students receive a ballot for the math club’s monthly raffle and towards the grand end of the year prize! While participation is optional, we encourage all students to give it a try!
