In this strand, students develop an understanding of the impacts of electrical energy production and consumption on society, the environment, and the economy, and explore ways to achieve sustainable practices. Students also investigate the nature of electric charges, including properties of static and current electricity, and explain the relationships between various electrical quantities.

In this strand, students will investigate the properties of light and develop an understanding how these properties has enabled us to develop optical technologies that are beneficial to society.

• Light has characteristics and properties that can be manipulated with mirrors and lenses for a range of uses.

• A wide range of technologies utilize the properties of light and colour.

• Light is a form of energy, produced from a variety of sources, and can be transformed into other useful forms of energy.
