In this strand, students explore the relevance of chemistry to their daily lives by investigating the use and safe disposal of various elements and compounds. Additionally, they assess the impacts of chemical processes and technologies on society and the environment. Students investigate the nature of matter by studying properties of elements and compounds, the structure of atoms, and the relationship between the atomic structure of elements and the organization of the periodic table.

Grade 10 Science, SNC2D & SNC2P

In this strand, students will develop an understanding on how chemicals react, and be able to predict chemical reactions. They will see how chemical reactions can result in useful products, and how they can also produce harmful products to the environment.

• Chemicals react with one another in predictable ways.

• Chemical reactions are a necessary component of chemical products and processes used in the home and workplace. The reactions have different impacts to our environment.
