Placements
We offer a variety of placement opportunities, including:
Hairstylist (completion of Emery’s Hairstyling program required prior to placement)
Early Childhood Education Assistant
Teacher’s Assistant
Administrative Assistant
Pharmacy Assistant
Electrician, Plumber, Automotive Technician, and other trades (all trades are part of the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP), provided the student has not obtained their OSSD)
Fire Protection Mechanic
Dispatcher, and more.
Before beginning placements in daycare centers, schools, or nursing homes, students must complete the following steps:
Undergo an online Vulnerable Sector Check as directed by the co-op teacher or guidance counsellor.
Daycare placement students must also complete the necessary immunizations (an immunization form will be provided).
Co-op students will have the opportunity to:
Gain Canadian work experience
Enhance their resumes
Acquire employer references
Develop work-related skills
Expand their professional network
Earn a Co-op Certificate and high school credits
Placements will not occur on weekends, holidays, or PD days. While co-op placements are generally unpaid, students may accept honorariums. Students are covered by WSIB insurance in case of an accident.
