Does Earl Haig accept Out-of-Area Admission?
No. At this time, Earl Haig Secondary School is not accepting Out-of-Area Admissions due to high enrolment. We are only able to accept students who reside within our designated catchment area.
You may begin the registration process as soon as you move into the catchment area or have all required registration documents ready. The registration steps can be found under “Collegiate Program/Registration” in the navigation menu. Please refer to the key dates /deadlines to ensure you are following the timeline that applies to the student.
Students arriving from outside of Ontario, or those who have been away from Ontario for more than six months, are required to complete English and Math assessments at the Newcomer Reception Centre. The Guidance Office administrator will assist in scheduling the assessment date and time during your registration appointment.
Students are normally placed in a grade according to their year of birth, in accordance with the Ontario Ministry of Education guidelines. However, for students arriving from outside Ontario, grade placement and the number of equivalent credits granted will be determined based on assessment results. Your guidance counsellor at Earl Haig Secondary School will assist you with this process.
Typically, you will hear back within 2–3 business days after the assessment results have been received from the Newcomer Reception Centre. Your guidance counsellor will contact you using the email address or phone number provided in the pre-registration Google Form to schedule an appointment for course selection. At that time, you will also be provided with a start date and timetable.
As the Guidance Department processes a high volume of registrations at the beginning of the school year, we kindly ask that you do not call the office before receiving a response. We appreciate your patience and will contact you as soon as we have availability.
No. The TDSB International Admissions Office will assign a TDSB school that accepts international fee-paying students. For inquiries, please contact studytoronto@tdsb.on.ca.
Not necessarily. School attendance boundaries are determined by the TDSB. It is best to refer to the TDSB Street Guide to confirm whether your home address falls within our catchment area. You may search by school name, and under the “Attendance Text Version,” you can view all addresses included in the catchment.
Students may apply to the Claude Watson Arts Program each year, typically in November. Please note that applications are not processed by Earl Haig Secondary School; they are managed by the TDSB Central Program Admissions Office.
We encourage you to check back on the Claude Watson section of this website in October for updated information, including Open House dates, application timelines, and program details.
