Auditions
February 14 - The cast list has been posted! A HUGE thank you to all those who auditioned. Seeing the excitement and passion from such a large number of students has been so remarkable. Congratulations to all those who were cast for your enormous commitment, and for those who did not receive a part this time - we see your passion and dedication and are so proud of you for stepping out of your comfort zones. Please keep an eye and an ear out for more opportunities to get involved!
For students in grades 3-8 who were called back for the second round of auditions... the call back auditions are on FRIDAY, February 9 at lunch recess. An announcement will be made to tell you which classrooms to go to.
REMINDER: Students will need to be available after school on a regular basis for rehearsals. We are looking for reliable and committed students who can attend rehearsals multiple times a week.
Dance to prepare for the Oompa Loompa Auditions:
You have to learn only the first 30 seconds of the dance.
You can perform solo or in a small group.
Good luck!
Audition Information
If you missed the meeting at last recess today, or need clarification about what was discussed, please read the information below regarding the auditions.
For all non Oompa-Loompa roles, you will be expected to perform one or multiple characters from the provided dialogues, as well as a song of your own choosing.
The dialogue does not have to be memorized, but you must be familiar with the text and be able to recognize that each character should sound and act differently. Be prepared to have to embody one of the character of our own choosing during the audition.
For the song, make sure that you are choosing a song that is appropriate for school and can best showcase your vocal abilities. You are encouraged to choose the song you can perform best.
Please remember, you may not receive the role you auditionned for, but you could still receive a role as a different character.
Oompa Loompas
There are 4-5 Oompa Loompa roles - these are roles that only have one line, and no solo song performance, but will be expected to sing with the Oompa Loompa ensemble. In this role, you will be acting physically on stage, but are primarily there to help with the transitions for the ensemble songs.
You will need to perform the first 30 seconds of the Oompa Loompa dance (see above video).
You are encouraged to put your own flair on your audition - come prepared and show us what you've got!
Song Selection for the Auditions:
Please remember that this is just an example of the songs with the show music and the lyrics.
We encourage you to put your own flair on it while still respecting the lyrics.
"I Eat More" - Augustus Gloop
"I Want It Now" - Veruca Salt
"The Candy Man" - Willy Wonka (disguised as the Candy Man)
"(I've Got A) Golden Ticket" - Charlie Bucket & Grandpa Joe
"Oompa Loompa 1" - This is only an option if you are planning to audition for an Oompa-Loompa role.
