What is EdVance?
CALC Secondary School (EdVance Program) offers an academic program for adult students, ages 18 to 20, who wish to earn the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). We support all post secondary destinations: college, university, apprenticeship and workplace.
Registration to CALC SS takes place each Quad. Quads begin in September, November, February and April.
More information is available on the Registration tab in the menu.
Quads:
The school year at CALC EdVance is divided into 4 quads (Quadmesters). A quad is like a semester in a regular high school, only it is approximately 9 weeks long. Students are required to take a minimum of two (2) courses each quad. Each course is two hours every day. At the end of the term you will earn a credit for each course that you complete and pass.
Age Qualification:
The EdVance program is for students 18-20 years of age. If you are turning 21 before January 1, 2025, please visit the website for CALC’s Adult program. If you do not qualify under this definition then your "home" school, an optional attendance school, or a Continuing Education program should accept you. If you do not meet the age criteria and cannot find a suitable alternative, contact the TDSB Placement Centre at 416.393.9300.
Academic Qualification:
Students are required to have a minimum of 5 credits and must have ENG1P1, ENG1D1, or ESLBO8. The EdVance program is oriented towards students who have fallen behind completing their OSSD, however, we do accept graduates as well.
