The Bobcat Beat

"When I say Bruce, you say BOBCATS"

Bruce!...BOBCATS!!!

Welcome back to school! It's great to be back in school and seeing everyone in person again!

We're spending lots of time outside this year which is adding some new challenges but also providing some great opportunities and new ideas to flourish.

On that note, please make sure students are able to participate in active physical education classes every day and in all weather.

Here's what were working on now:

-Getting to know the expectations and routines: e.g. Whistle sound/"Freeze" = Stop, Look and Listen

-How to play fair and follow the rules of the game

-How to problem solve and communicate with others

-Fundamental Movement Skills: Moving safely in different directions; sending (throwing; kicking) and receiving (catching; stopping a ball);

-"Familiar Games" Games that the students know and love that are easy and fast to start. They also reinforce how to overcome obstacles such as getting "caught" or "out" and how to navigate and overcome interpersonal challenges.

Teaching Games for Understanding (TGFU):

Sending and receiving games with various equipment needed for Net/Wall games.

Games with an attack/invade and defend dynamic for Invasion/territory games.
