CONTESTS
CANADIAN COMPUTING COMPETITION.
The Canadian Computing Competition (CCC) is a fun challenge for secondary school students with an interest in programming. It is an opportunity for students to test their ability in designing, understanding and implementing algorithms. The competition is on February 21, 2024, from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm (times subject to change), in Rooms 607/608.
The cost is $10, and the registration deadline is February 7 at 3 pm. Payment will be available on SchoolCash Online, and will be due on February 14 at 3 pm.
Initial registration for the CCC is now closed. Please see Mr Cho in room 401 or 606 to inquire about late registration (not guaranteed).
Competition Levels
Junior Level — any student with elementary programming skills
Senior Level — any student with intermediate to advanced programming skills
Any student may choose to write any level (Junior or Senior) of the contest.

We encourage students to prepare. Places to begin include:

the book Programming Challenges by Skiena and Revilla (published by Springer) — a nice introduction to common computing competition algorithmic problems

BEAVER COMPUTING CHALLENGE
The Beaver Computing Challenge (BCC) is a problem solving contest for students up to grade 10, with a focus on computational and logical thinking. Questions are inspired by topics in computer science and is designed to get students with little or no previous experience excited about computing.
Format
45 minutes
15 multiple choice questions for 90 total marks
The 2023 Beaver Computing Challenge will be held during November and written in class by select junior computer science classes. Past BCC contests and solutions are available here
