Learning Strategies (GLE)

Learning Strategies (Only available to students with IEPs)

GLE, formally referred to as Learning Strategies, is set up to ensure student success. The course content is intended to develop student learning and personal management skills. Students do receive a credit for successful completion of this course.

The GLE course is broken down into teaching time and resource time. Skill development curriculum (GLE) and resource time for other course work are offered simultaneously throughout the semester. The breakdown of time assigned to teaching and resource will be decided by the GLE teacher based on the needs of each particular class. The GLE class is a great opportunity for students to not only have extra time to work on other course assignments but also to receive extra support in those courses.

The GLE teacher's role is to support students with an IEP to ensure that students are developing learning and personal management skills, connect with students' classroom teachers outlining the supports offered in GLE, monitor student success, and to connect with parents regarding student success.

The GLE student's role is to attend class with an open mind and be prepared with work from other classes so they can receive one-on-one support and take advantage of the extra time.
