THS Student Council is sponsoring the First Annual Gold Walk to raise awareness and funds for a THS student and the respective family suffering from the impact of childhood cancer. This walk is open to anyone who would like to help offset medical expenses. All proceeds will be donated to the family.
Why Gold?
The international awareness symbol for Childhood Cancer has been the gold ribbon since 1997 when a group of parents with children impacted by childhood cancer named the gold ribbon the support symbol. Unlike other cancer awareness ribbons, which focus on a singular type of cancer, the gold ribbon is a symbol for all forms of cancer affecting children and adolescents. Since 1997, support has grown for the movement monumentally, including the month of September being named Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. More information on childhood cancer can be found below.
