Sport Rep Responsibilities:
Coordinate annual Apollo Conference By-laws meeting
Conduct All-Conference Meeting following guidelines
Communicate any concerns, etc. regarding their sport to other conference coaches and AD’s
Communicate with host school to help in any way with the running of the Conference Meet.
Provide AD President & Secretary with TYPED results (document or E-mail) of Team Standings with records and All Conference Selections including Name, Year in school, and school name. Please make sure that the spelling is correct.
***The tournament host is responsible for compliance with the Apollo Conference rules and regulations. The host school will handle all administrative details. Any advanced tournament information: if necessary, will be emailed out by the host school no later than ten (10) days prior to the tournament.
*Schedule:
The Apollo Conference Girls Tennis Tournament will be held on Friday & Saturday of IHSA Week #13.
The Apollo Conference Boys Tennis Tournament will be held on Friday & Saturday of IHSA Week #45.
On Friday, the Doubles Tournament will be played. On Saturday, the Singles Tournament will be played.
In case of rain-out on Friday, the Doubles Tournament will be played on Saturday and the Singles Tournament will start. If needed, it will be finished the following Monday. If both Friday and Saturday must be cancelled the entire tournament will be played on the following Monday.
The Tournaments will begin at 1:00 PM on Friday and 9:00 AM on Saturday.
The Location of the Tournaments will rotate between schools with the ability to host. (See Tourney Rotations)
The seeding/draw meeting will be held at the host school, on the Wednesday preceding the tournament at 7:00 pm.
*Seeding and Drawing
All coaches will attend the seeding and drawing meeting on the Wednesday preceding the tournament at the host school, at 7:00 pm.
The coaches will be given blank pieces of paper and place the name of the player(s) participating in the singles and doubles competition.
Coaches will then discuss and determine which four (4) singles shall be seeded for each of the six (6) singles tournaments. Likewise for each of the three (3) doubles tournaments.
After the seeding has been made, the remainder of the players/teams will be placed into each tournament by
a blind draw. The singles division will be drawn first and then the doubles division.
*Coaches should have the written records of players they wish to seed.
*Summer results may be used for seeding purposes
Where there is not a full participation tournament or a team is short of a singles or doubles entry, byes will be assigned according to the I.H.S.A. and U.S.T.A. rules and regulations.
The number of byes to be used will be determined prior to the seeding and drawing for the singles and doubles competition.
Byes will be awarded to the seeded singles players or doubles teams starting with the first seeds and
continuing through the fourth seeds if necessary.
*Rules of play:
All I.H.S.A. and U.S.T.A. rules and regulations will be used, unless specified differently by the conference rules and regulations.
There will be six (6) singles and three (3) doubles tournaments in the conference tourney. Eight (8) player/team brackets will be used in each.
All schools in the conference will be allowed to enter six (6) singles players, and three (3) doubles teams. One each in each of the tournaments. Players will be allowed to compete in both the single and double tournaments
The tournament format and scoring will be the same for both the boys and girls conference tournaments.
No Ad scoring will be used in 1st round matches and all consolation matches.
Regular scoring will be used in the semi-finals and finals.
3rd set will be a 10 point tiebreaker in first round and consolation matches. Play out the 3rd set in the semi-finals and finals.
* Scoring for the Tournament:
1) Tournament overall scoring in each bracket is as follows
1st place - 7 points
2nd place - 5 points
3rd place - 4 points
4th place - 3 points
5th place - 2 points
6th place - 1 point
No points awarded for any other places
*Conference Champion:
Team scores at the Conference Tournament will determine the Conference Champion (s).
*Awards:
Conference Champions - Plaque Insert
All Conference members - medals.
*All Conference Selection
All Conference members will be selected by a vote of the coaches on nominations made by each school. All Conference honors will be awarded to the top nine (9) players in the conference. Medals will be awarded to each of the nine members.
