Educator Bio
As an avid outdoorsman and lifelong resident of Transylvania County, I enjoy all of the fine things the mountains of WNC have to offer. The abundance of trails and streams in Brevard and surrounding areas make living here truly a blessing.
I attended Western Carolina University and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with an English concentration. I have taught English in the public school system since 2011 and enjoy shaping the minds of the future generation.

In terms of pedagogy, I believe in having a daily routine that is somewhat dormant in structure but is constantly changing in terms of content, creativity, collaboration, and delivery. I am a firm believer in standards based grading and the concept of teaching and assessing mastery rather than responsibility and/or other abstract concepts that do not necessarily demonstrate learning. I believe that every student can be successful given the right opportunity and targeted scaffolding. Vertically aligned instruction and critical feedback are the prime components that mold students into successfully thinkers, writers, and collaborators.
