Matthew Tuckey

I grew up in a large farming family in small town in a part of Michigan that could have just as well been in Iowa or Kansas or anywhere else in the Midwest.  There, I found and married the kindest sweetest person I have yet to meet (Michelle) and raised two children (Elena and Andrew) who you just might see around Brevard.  I received my B.S. in Science Education from Western Michigan University and my M.S. in the Teaching of Chemistry and Physics from Michigan State University.  For eighteen years I taught Chemistry and Physics in Michigan before discovering the jewel that is Brevard.  I have always enjoyed project based learning because I believe that if a student starts with an end goal of something tangible and exciting, they can be pulled deeper into subject matter than normally possible.  This is where real connections and understanding come from and it is my sincere hope that I can help students get to a place where their science education becomes useful in everyday life.
