I am so excited to return to my hometown of Rosman to serve the amazing people of this community! I am proud to be an 8th generation native of Transylvania County and continue the legacy of teaching in my family. My great-grandfather was the first principal of TC Henderson Elementary!
I love teaching (especially math) and want all my students to leave my classroom excited to learn more about the world around them, knowing the value of being a life-long learner!
My husband is also a teacher at UNC-Asheville as a professor of International/Asian Studies. Our daughters are Lauren, 22 who is a Senior at Columbia University studying ecology and biology, Lindsey, 19 who is a Freshman at UNC Chapel Hill. Go Tarheels!
Our son, Ben will be 6 and loves his best friends, our Golden Retriever, Mac our cat, Leo, and our bunny, Pickles.
I love spending time with my family hiking, baking and cooking, gardening, fishing, playing tennis, watching baseball (Go Braves!), and painting.
As the "Seniors" of our school, I expect students to lead by example! I really look forward to not only encouraging students to grow academically, but also socially and emotionally, learning life skills that they will take with them to middle school and beyond! I will do this by creating opportunities for every student to explore what best motivates them: whether it is in a subject like math or science or by participating in a leadership project within the school. Being a responsible student just isn't about turning in homework on time! It is also about thinking about the world around you, how you will positively impact it, and how you will serve your community.
Students in my class will experience a safe, loving, and positive environment where they can focus on becoming the best versions of themselves today and every day in their bright futures!
We step-up to challenges, show stamina and "stick-with-it-ness", and always show encouragement and support for all members of our class family!
