After graduating high school in 2008, Mr. Montgomery attended North Central Michigan college in Petoskey, Michigan for two years. Mr. Montgomery transferred to Grand Valley State University to finish his teaching and mathematics degree and graduated in 2013. He moved to Brevard, North Carolina that following summer and has taught at Rosman High School since. Along with two dogs, Mr. Montgomery and his wife have three kids: Asher, Levi, and Evelyn. Mr. Montgomery enjoys going on long runs in the scenic trails of Western North Carolina.

Since 2013, Mr. Montgomery has taught a wide variety of mathematics coffered offered from the middle school to the high school level. Mr. Montgomery enjoys working with students to enrich the mathematical experience and instill the values of a mathematics education along with the career success it can bring.
