Battle of the Books

Way to go!

In March of 2026, the BMS Battle of the Books team competed in the WNC Regional battle. They did an amazing job! This talented team worked hard reading 20 books, memorizing titles and authors, and preparing for this contest all year. They have certainly made us proud and represented BMS well. Way to go!

Welcome, readers!

Battle of the Books is a competitive team of 6-8th grade students who read a list of young adult books and compete against other schools by answering detailed questions.

This club is for bibliophiles only! If you love reading and the spirit of competition, this is the perfect club for you!

We will compete at WNC Regionals in March of 2027, proudly representing Transylvania county.

Meetings:

Battle of the Books meets on Wednesday afternoons until 4:00 in the BMS library.

The first meeting of the 2026-27 school year is on Wed, 10/21. Additional meetings will be every other Wednesday on 11/4, 11/18, 12/2, and 12/16.

Beginning in 2027, the team will meet every Wednesday until 4:00.

(Dates: January 6, 13, 20, 27; February 3, 10, 17, 24; March TBD.)

So what is BoB?

After reading books on the list of 16 and memorizing the titles and authors, students prepare for competition by answering trivia-type questions that begin with the phrase: "In which book...?"
