Battle of the Books

In March of 2024, the BMS Battle of the Books team competed in the WNC Regional battle. They did an amazing job! This talented team worked hard, reading 20 books, memorizing titles and authors, and preparing for this contest all year. They have certainly made us proud and represented BMS well. Way to go!

Welcome, readers!
Battle of the Books is a competitive team of 6-8th grade students who read a list of young adult books and compete against other schools by answering detailed questions.
This club is for bibliophiles only!
If you love reading and the spirit of competition, this is the perfect club for you!
We compete at the county level against Rosman Middle in late February/early March* and the winning team advances to WNC Regionals to represent Transylvania county.
Meetings:
Battle of the Books typically meets on Wednesday afternoons until 4:00.
The first meeting of the 2024-2025 school year will be on Wednesday, Sept. 18th until 4:00 in the library.
Future meeting dates: 10/2, 10/16, 10/30, 11/6, 11/20, 12/4, and 12/18.
After Christmas Break the meeting schedule will be updated.

So what is BoB?
After reading books on the list and memorizing the titles and authors, students prepare for competition by answering questions that begin with the phrase: "In which book...?" We compete against RMS at the county level, and the winner of that contest will advance to Regionals in the early Spring.
