I graduated from Parkview High School in Stone Mountain, Georgia. I obtained my associate's degree from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and then my bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Georgia Southwestern State University. After teaching fifth grade math in Greenville, Alabama, and then kindergarten in Thomasville, Georgia, I moved to Mississippi. I have been teaching first grade at Strayhorn Elementary School for six years. My latest achievement is graduating from Arkansas State University with my master's degree in reading.
