The major goals of the Guidance Department are:

**Provide students, teachers, parents, and others direct and confidential access to counselors.

**Provide individual and group counseling to students so that they may gain positive, realistic self-concepts, and become increasingly self-directive in making decisions.

**Assist in the development, orientation, administration, and interpretation of a sound, comprehensive testing program.

**Use test results, along with other information in the cumulative folder and from teachers, to help students better understand themselves, their abilities, aptitudes, interests, and potential.

**Make available educational, vocational, and personal information to individuals and groups so that they will be able to make informed, appropriate decisions.

**Promote a cooperative spirit between students, teachers, administrators, parents, counselors, and community agencies so that referrals are initiated by any member relative to student growth or concerns.

**Maintain articulated and safeguarded records.
