Physical Education

At TCPS, PE is valued as an important part of a students' education. Students not only learn to become physically fit through exercise and games, they learn important life lessons such as teamwork, commitment and perseverance, among others. In PE at TCPS, we play a variety of games in which they are modified to meet all students' needs regardless of ability level. For example, in soccer we play a game with 2-3 soccer balls at a time to increase the amount of opportunities to participate, with the goal of getting EVERYONE in the class involved in playing soccer, not just the ones who have experience playing soccer. We do these types of modifications for all of our sports units in our class throughout the year. Some of the sports that students play in PE at TCPS throughout the school year are:

  • Soccer
  • Hockey
  • Ultimate Frisbee
  • Disc Golf
  • Over The Line
  • Gymnastics
  • Team Handball

At TCPS, middle school students have PE daily and 7th-8th graders are required to change in and out of PE uniforms for class. 7th and 8th graders are evaluated based on dressing out daily and daily participation; this evaluation will culminate in a percentage grade. In kindergarten through 5th grade, they have PE twice per week and are evaluated based on their daily participation and behavior.

7th and 8th graders have a school issued PE shirt that they wear for PE daily, are to wear black athletic bottoms (shorts, sweatpants, yoga pants, etc), and should have appropriate athletic sneakers (close-toed). Additional PE shirts can be purchased for $15.
