Liza Clifton first was introduced to TCPS as a parent. Now, it all comes full circle as she teaches history and research. She has been teaching for over 20 years in high school social sciences and later worked as a support teacher specializing in reading intervention and assisting students with learning challenges. She looks forward to helping her students to think not only about the subjects they are studying but also about how they learn best.
Mrs. Clifton has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from University of California at San Diego. She has her Single Subject Teaching Credential in English and Social Sciences and reading certification from San Diego State University. She has additional training in Educational Therapy through Cal State Northridge.
Mr. Kim has Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Kansas, a B.A. in History from University of California at Santa Barbara, along with a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Social Studies. He is a strong believer in life-long learning and recognizes the importance of being enthusiastic about education.
Adding to Donny’s educational background are his twelve years of experience in outdoor education for the Catalina Island Marine Institute, where he taught marine ecology, geology, astronomy, underwater photography, and SCUBA certification courses. He has been a part of the TCPS family since 2001.
As Head of School, he is excited to be able to continue to teach in the classroom as the Grade 8 history teacher.
