Invests Strategically in Digital Resources

Invests Strategically in Digital Resources Leverages an understanding of school and community needs to identify and invest in digital resources to support student learning.

Here is what I am currently doing in this focus area: Understanding and using online training for BadgerLink to help boost student and teacher usage of this resource. Teaching how to use Flocabulary, NoodleTools, Tales2Go, Learn360, MackinVia. Promote useage of these subscription library services.

Here is what I want to do in this focus area: Track usage of paid databases the school subscribes to. When usage is low, investigate the need for access and find an appropriate replacement that will meet our needs better. Constantly evaluate and search for "best fit" electronic resources for our school needs. Invest in databases more heavily for non-fiction resources, especially for grades 5 and up.

Here are my goals for this year in this focus area: Track the usage of: Flocabulary, Noodletools, MackinVia, Tales2Go, Learn 360, Tumblebooks, Facts4Me, Issues and Controversies, Issues and Controversies in American History, and World Geography and Culture. Use data to determine future subscriptions. Use WiLS to learn about and explore other Database options for our school district needs.Survey teachers to find other digital resources that can be library based and used by our classroom teachers to meet academic needs for students. Educate teachers about how to use digital resources.

Here are my goals for next year and beyond in this focus area: Continue to explore new database options for our students. (e.g. Scholastic Digital, Learn 360, Infobase, JLG Digital). Collaborate with teachers to find appropriate digital resources for their needs. Teach and promote these databases to teachers and students to increase usage.
